A Tribute to Josh McGarrahan

This page has been set up as a tribute to Josh McGarrahan. Josh was a very active member in the Staunton River Band program. An extraordinarily dedicated student, Josh was always helping out in every way possible. Josh was also an accomplished musician, playing both trumpet and tuba. Josh was diagnosed with a heart problem at a young age, but this did little to deter his commitment and outgoing personality. It was a sad morning October 5, 1998, when he passed on. He was friends with everyone. Please take some time to look over these pictures and memories of Josh.

The laughs, the hugs, the jokes, the tears
All the places we've been.
It seemed at the time, they'd last forever
Little was I to know
In no time you'd be away and gone
And where was I to go?
I went to friends and familiar faces
But, you see, it's not the same
Not the same warm hug or shoulder
Nothing close have they came.
All the times you made me laugh
Silly inside jokes
"Motorcycles" and "Mitty Cats"
And fixing a garden hose.
And, who could forget the "Big Ole Truck"
"Favorite cookies" too
Countless times you made me smile
What am I supposed to do?
I know you're still watching over me
Asking, "You OK?"
It's hard you know, to keep on going,
Nothing to make it through the day
I still have things to keep your memory
Alive and in my mind
I'll keep them there until the day
It's you, I can once again find.

Our Fallen Colonel

In the corner of my mind
I keep your memory.
I think about you now and then
and hope you think of me.
Your memory still makes me cry
but every once in awhile,
a happy moment comes to me
and I can’t help but smile.
You know we’ll always think of you,
as our duct tape man.
How appropriate then it seems to be,
that you still hold together the band.
We never will forget you Josh
although we may be sad.
Just like you were always there for us
We’re here for Jessi, your Mom, and Dad.

They say only the good die young, You my friend are the chosen one.
I remember your words, your laugh, your smile, And a roll of duct tape that went on for miles.
Now you're gone from our view, But our love for you will never be through.
They say memories last forever, And thoes memories bind us together.
I know you'd want us not to cry, But we must, don't ask why.
Please be with us at competitions yet to come, And know we include you in all our fun.
So look over us and guide us, help us to be strong, Your memories will never steer us wrong.
This isn't goodbye, just so long, Please keep our spirits strong.

If life were easy;
you'd still be here.
But life falls short of perfect
and so it seems your gone.

in your memory preform
In our memory you live on
so it seemed at first that you had left,
but you are far from gone
you may have left this cursed earth
